SIDE BY SIDE

Side by Side

Although LCI started as an offshoot of Round Table back in 1930’s, as time went by the two clubs grew apart. It was therefore decided to make a concentrated effort to drive towards working together in certain projects Internationally. The two International Boards met in Cyprus in July 2005 and the concept of working ‘Side by Side’ came about with a pin being designed to commemorate and promote this occasion. The pins are being sold at €5 with proceeds to be donated to the LCI Charity Project.

This message was spread across the world to all RT & LC clubs so that the National Boards of each country would decide how to apply this on their local level.

Malta goes Side by Side

These three children’s home, namely St Rita Home Dar it-Tama, and Dar Sagra Familija are taken care of by RT Malta 1, 2 and 3 respectively throughout the year. LCM therefore decided to join forces with RTM and treat these children. On 12 October 2005 we took children, guardians, nuns and helpers to watch ‘Herbie: Full Loaded’ at Eden Century Cinemas, St Julian’s. The transport was sponsored by Paramount Garage and Zephyr Garage whilst the film was heavily subsidised.

The film chosen was a light hearted, amusing, entertaining film which is enjoyable for children and adults alike.  The children’s enthusiasm shown at the end of the film was enough for Tablers and Circlers to know that the event had been a success.

Side by Side with an International Tinge

During the last weekend of October RTM hold their AGM. This year was their 25 th Charter Anniversary and thirty foreign counterparts attended. During the weekend activities Tablers attended an Art Exhibition by Madeleine Gera who also donated one of her paintings to be auctioned during the Gala Dinner. RTM decided to go ‘Side by Side’ and offered the proceeds from the auction to LCM’s main Charity Project ‘Beyond the Moon’. The Vice President of Round Table Britain & Ireland outbid everyone and bought the painting which will be hung in their headquarters in Marchesi House (round Table’s Headquarters) with the appropriate plaque. This is a great honour for both RTM but just as much of course for LCM.

Imax and Mc Donald’s

28 December 2005 saw yet another joint effort from LCM & RTM. Ian De Cesare, Honarary Member of Round Table 2, who held various roles and high ranking posts both nationally and internationally kindly offered to once again host the children we had taken in October to watch an Imax film. We quickly accepted this generous offer and also obtained sponsorship for the entire group to go and eat at Mc Donald’s thanks to Beppe Hili also a former Tabler. Transport for the afternoon was kindly sponsored by Paramount Garage.
